The search is back on for the role of Christian Grey in the much-awaited Fifty Shades of Grey film after the announcement that Charlie Hunnam would be dropping out.
Will fans be disappointed again?
A set of names have been revealed on Universal’s reported short list for the role.
Citing sources, True Blood actor Alexander Skarsgardis reportedly on the list of possible replacements. In addition to Skarsgard, Theo James, Christian Cooke, and Irish actor Jami Dornan are under consideration.
Skarsgard, James, Cooke, and Dornan arein the running to replace Hunnam after fans have discussed about the top choices for the role.
Fan favorite Matt Bomer is currently being tipped by the fans to play the lead role, though there’s no word yet as to whether he is officially in the running.
Announcement of casting
The news of the casting comes with the revelation that Universal Pictures and Focus Features have hired Patrick Marber to polish the script and work on the characters.
Dakota Johnson, meanwhile, still remained to play the role of Anastasia Steele.
If a new Christian Grey is found soon enough, filming for the movie will still start in November, with a launch date scheduled for August 2014.
