In a bid to protect the privacy of its users’ online activities from prying eyes, Yahoo has vowed to encrypt all the communications and other information that flows into the company’s data centers throughout the world.
The commitment was announced on Monday by the Yahoo CEO, Merissa Mayer following the recent Washington Post report that the National Security Agency has been intercepting the communication lines of data centers run by Yahoo and Google to hack into information about what people say and do online.
Another promise from Yahoo
The recent promise from Yahoo comes as a second to its earlier commitment to encrypt all emails of its users.
While Google too has been encrypting its Gmail service since 2010, NSA continues to maintain that its surveillance programs have been the key in thwarting many terrorist attempts.
